Job Purpose
The Engineer is responsible for engineering review, coordination, and technical oversight of external design contractors supporting electric distribution capital and maintenance projects. This role ensures contractor-produced designs meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and defined scope expectations while supporting the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of work.Â
The Engineer performs these responsibilities while working under the guidance of Senior and Lead Engineers.Â
Key Accountabilities
- Provide technical oversight and review of external contractor design packages for distribution system projectsÂ
- Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, safety requirements, regulatory obligations, and constructability expectationsÂ
- Serve as primary technical point of contact for assigned external design contractorsÂ
- Monitor contractor technical performance, deliverable quality, and adherence to scope and scheduleÂ
- Support resolution of technical issues arising during design and pre-construction phasesÂ
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Construction, Planning, Asset Management, and OperationsÂ
- Participate in scope development, cost estimating validation, and schedule planning activitiesÂ
- Identify and escalate technical risks or performance concerns as appropriateÂ
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to contractor performance and design standardsÂ
- Participate in storm response and emergency restoration activities as requiredÂ
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline
- 0–3 years of relevant experience
- Experience working with external design firms or consulting engineers preferredÂ
- Strong analytical and technical review skills
- Ability to manage multiple contractor deliverables in a structured environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver license with a safe driving record required
Salary
$109,000 - $128,000 a year
