Finance and Accounting Manager - Brockton

Description
Diamond Antenna and Microwave Corporation is seeking an Accounting Manager at our Antenna Associates, Inc. facility in Brockton, MA with Actual Cost and Cost Accounting expertise to support a growing defense-oriented manufacturing organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and driving cost accounting discipline across manufacturing, inventory, labor, and program performance. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on manufacturing finance experience in an engineered product environment. Experience with actual cost systems, inventory valuation, job costing, indirect rates, and government contracting environments is highly desired.
This position will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to improve financial visibility, support operational decision-making, and strengthen internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Financial Management
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activitiesÂ
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesÂ
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and chart of accounts integrityÂ
- Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting packagesÂ
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisÂ
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policiesÂ
- Coordinate external audit support and tax-related deliverablesÂ
Actual Cost & Cost Accounting
- Own and maintain the company’s Actual Cost accounting processes and methodologiesÂ
- Analyze material, labor, burden, and overhead absorption performanceÂ
- Review and monitor manufacturing variances, including:Â
- Labor variancesÂ
- Material purchase price variancesÂ
- Usage/scrap variancesÂ
- Over/under absorbed overheadÂ
- Inventory valuation variancesÂ
- Maintain and improve job costing and manufacturing cost tracking systemsÂ
- Partner with Operations to ensure accurate labor reporting, inventory transactions, and production costingÂ
- Analyze margins and profitability by product line, customer, and programÂ
- Support standard-to-actual cost reconciliation activities where applicableÂ
- Assist in development and monitoring of indirect rates (Overhead, G&A, etc.)Â
- Support DCAA-compliant accounting practices and government contract cost reporting as neededÂ
Inventory & Manufacturing Finance
- Monitor inventory valuation accuracy and reservesÂ
- Support cycle count programs and annual physical inventory activitiesÂ
- Review WIP balances and manufacturing close processesÂ
- Improve financial controls surrounding inventory movement and manufacturing transactionsÂ
- Work with Operations leadership to improve financial visibility into production performanceÂ
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support ERP system maintenance and financial process improvementsÂ
- Help drive automation and reporting enhancementsÂ
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards and KPI reportingÂ
- Improve accounting workflows, controls, and documentationÂ
Key Competencies

Requirements

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredÂ
- 5+ years of accounting experience in defense manufacturing environmentsÂ
- 3+ years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience preferredÂ
- Experience implementing or optimizing an ERP system (Infor Visual, Costpoint, Epicor, LN, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or      similar)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills requiredÂ
- CPA or CMA is a plusÂ

Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Controller / Finance Leadership and works closely with Operations and Executive Management.
