The Mechanical Engineer III is a fully proficient engineer responsible for designing, analyzing, and supporting mechanical components and systems used in Diamond’s RF and electromechanical products. This role independently executes engineering tasks, leads moderate-complexity design efforts, collaborates cross-functionally, and ensures that designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Perform tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, analysis, and modeling of rotating/mechanical interfaces.
- Support NPI activities, prototype builds, and qualification testing.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs meet production capability and cost objectives.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and corrective actions for product or build issues.
- Participate in customer or program technical reviews as required.
- Support configuration control, ECO processing, and revision discipline.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering process improvements.
- Experience supporting high-reliability RF, microwave, and electromechanical product design.
- Ability to design components related to RF rotary joints, slip rings, FORJs, and precision rotating assemblies.
- Proficiency with tolerance analysis, GD&T, and precision machining considerations.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 engineering processes, configuration control, and ECO discipline.
- Understanding of ITAR/CUI requirements and working within controlled engineering environments.
- Experience working cross-functionally with machining, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
- Ability to support prototype builds, test evaluations, and root-cause investigations.
- Comfort generating detailed documentation, BOM structures, and manufacturing-ready drawings.
- Strong ability to balance design performance, manufacturability, and cost for Diamond product lines.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and standardization of engineering practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 4–7 years of engineering experience in product development or manufacturing.
- Strong proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks preferred), GD&T, and mechanical design fundamentals.
- Experience with precision assemblies, machined components, and complex electromechanical systems.
