Our team is looking for an experienced Accountant - General Ledger to play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of our financial records.

 

In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. This role focuses on preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining general ledger balances across multiple areas, including accruals, payroll, prepaids, and intercompany transactions. You will support month, quarter, and year-end close processes, timely financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP, and assists with audits and system improvements. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently to meet deadlines while collaborating with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and enhance accounting processes. 

 

Location: Corporate Headquarters – Brookfield, CT (on-site; not open to remote)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex journal entries and reconciliations to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately, consistently, and timely
  • Support the month, quarter, and year-end close processes and account reconciliation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to reporting timelines
  • Own, maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, accruals, payroll, prepaids, and intercompany balances, investigating and resolving any discrepancies or irregularities as they arise
  • Support timely and accurate financial reporting to ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation, explanations, and responses to auditor requests under direct supervision of senior accounting personnel
  • Perform detailed variance and fluctuation analyses, identifying and resolving discrepancies or unusual trends in financial results
  •  Collaborate with the accounting team and cross-functional partners (e.g., Finance, Payroll, Operations) to ensure consistent accounting practices and accurate data flow across systems
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable laws and regulation
  • Support leadership in identifying and implementing process improvements, system enhancements, and automation opportunities that reinforce internal controls 
  • Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to use functions such as pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas
  • Knowledge of internal control concepts and financial close processes
  • Technical knowledge of US GAAP, general ledger structure, and core accounting principles required
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, taking initiative to drive tasks and projects forward with limited oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
  • Adaptable and able to adjust to evolving accounting requirements, systems, and processes.
  • Experience with high volume of transactions during closing periods 

 

Experience

  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Manufacturing experience preferred

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
