We are hiring an Equipment Engineer I to support the maintenance, performance, and reliability of manufacturing equipment within a high-tech manufacturing environment. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, this role assists with troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment monitoring, and equipment improvement activities to support safe and efficient operations. The Equipment Engineer I partners with Manufacturing, Quality, Facilities, and Engineering teams while developing technical knowledge of equipment systems, company processes, and industry practices. This role follows established procedures and contributes to equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and product quality

Location: Brookfield, CT. This is an on-site position, and we are not open to remote candidates at this time.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor assigned manufacturing equipment and assist with troubleshooting activities to support equipment performance and reliability.
  • Perform routine support for corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and equipment improvement activities to help maximize equipment uptime and performance.
  • Maintain equipment documentation with guidance, including procedures, troubleshooting guides, and calibration schedules
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors under guidance for service activities, technical support, and equipment-related projects
  • Assist with equipment qualifications, re-qualifications, and validation activities to support quality and process requirements
  • Participate in root cause investigations by gathering data and assisting with problem-solving activities
  • Monitor equipment performance metrics and assist in identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Support equipment installation, relocation, and decommissioning activities
  • Contribute to cross-functional improvement projects focused on equipment performance, process efficiency, and manufacturing objectives while developing knowledge of company systems and processes
  • Follow cleanroom protocols and comply with all EHS procedures to support a safe work environment
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Travel

  • Occasional Travel (5-10%) for training, vendor support, FAT/SAT, or equipment installations

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Attributes)

  • Foundational understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment documentation
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools, statistical process control (SPC) concepts, and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and engineering software tools

Experience

  • 0-2 years of equipment engineering, maintenance engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience in manufacturing, production or cleanroom environment is preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, related technical field or equivalent work experience

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking (4+ hours).
  • Use hands to finger, handling / grasping objects, tools, or controls.
  • Reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying products or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Climbing: use of ladders, stairs or scaffolding.
  • Talking / Hearing: clear verbal communication and ability to hear instructions or warnings.
  • Seeing: visual acuity for reading, inspecting or operating machinery.
  • Repetitive motions; typing or assembly work.
  • Working conditions; exposure to weather, noise, dust, chemicals or confined spaces.
