About the Role:
Caremed Primary and Urgent Care PC is looking for an energetic and dedicated Full-Time Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our busy and growing primary care practice in Coram, NY. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a fast-paced healthcare team where your skills and compassion make a real difference in patients' lives every day.  Must be able to multitask and have strong communication skills. Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus.
 
The job will primarily be as a receptionist but can cover the Medical Assistant position when needed.  The office hours are Monday, Thursday 8-6 /Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8-5 / alternating Saturdays 8-1 so the schedule will fall within these times. 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Greeting and assisting patients
  •  Answering phones in a timely manner
  •  Taking accurate and concise messages for the doctors and medical assistants
  •  Patient scheduling based on practice guidelines
  •  Perform the patient check-in process to ensure accurate collection of information and copayments/co-insurance
  •  Generating electronic referrals
  •  Verify insurance coverage
  •  Making sure that the daily copay/coinsurance collections are correctly documented and proved out at the end of the day
  •  Responsible for making sure that the waiting room is keep clean and neat
  •  Training new staff in policies and procedures
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Accurately documenting patient history and medications
  •  Taking patient vitals and entering them into the EHR
  •  Ensuring that all data for practice goals for MACRA are followed, obtained and documented
  •  Scanning patient related documents into the EHR
  •  Collection of specimens, perform phlebotomy, PT/INR, spirometry & EKGs
  •  Obtaining prior authorizations for procedures and medications
  •  Communicate with the physician and patient regarding messages, labs, etc 
  •  Returning messages to patients as per the physician’s instructions
  •  Making sure that medical supplies inventory is sufficient and informing Practice Manager of needed supplies
Requirements:
  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant and/or Medical Receptionist preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical billing practices
  • Knowledge of vital signs, phlebotomy, and basic clinical procedures
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with a patient-first attitude
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) a plus
  • Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations preferred
