The Point-of-Care Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of point-of-care testing programs across multiple departments. This role ensures that Point of Care Testing (POCT) procedures and equipment comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards. The coordinator will train and certify staff, manage inventory, conduct audits, and liaise with relevant healthcare teams to maintain efficient POCT operations. The position also involves the development and updating of POCT policies and procedures, as well as data analysis to support decision-making and process enhancements.

Essential Functions

  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards related to POCT (e.g., CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission) and a commitment to ensuring compliance with these requirements.

  • Strong technical knowledge of point-of-care testing equipment, procedures, and quality control measures. Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate calibration and maintenance activities.

  • Proven ability to effectively train, mentor, and certify staff in POCT procedures, ensuring competency in both routine and complex testing scenarios.

  • Proficiency in analyzing POCT data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential risks. Ability to make data-driven decisions to improve practices and outcomes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with laboratory staff, healthcare providers, department managers, and external vendors.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects, audits, and training programs simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

  • Associate's Degree Medical Technology

License

  • Medical Technologist

Work Experience

  • State of Florida Licensure is required. Competency in 1-5 specialties.
