POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing superior customer service and driving sales and margin in alignment with the financial plan of the retail store. Primary responsibilities include controlling and monitoring overall store expenses, and ensuring that all corporate financial and merchandising standards are maintained and enforced. The Assistant Store Manager also oversees a variety of store specific programs. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the overall safety, security, supervision, training, mentoring, and scheduling of all assigned personnel, as well as any other duties as assigned. The Assistant Store Manager will assume the responsibilities of Store Manager in their absence.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assistant managers are responsible for all aspects of store operation, from administrative roles to handling customer complaints and queries.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Creates budgets for sales, expenses, and wages and monitors departments, making sure budgeted numbers are achieved, and ensures department staffing levels are within company guidelines.
- Drives sales in assigned areas
- Ensures compliance with Company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ensures proper personnel procedures are followed for selection and recruiting, record retention, and training as required
- Manages operations Front-end, Produce, Grocery, Accounting, Receiving, Meat and Bakery/Deli, parking lot and grounds,
- Communicating with other Managers and Employees about operations, merchandising, and Company direction.
- Models, enforces, and provides direction and guidance to Employees on proper technique’s, Company guidelines and standards.
- Oversees and enforces the execution of food safety standards, and food merchandise quality.
- Provides supervision and development opportunities for Employees.
- Works as part of the management team to ensure all opening and closing procedures are followed, including communicating with opening and closing supervisors to ensure a smooth transition from day to night operations, discussing merchandising opportunities and directions, scheduling concerns, associate issues, any issues needing to be escalated, additional resources needed, and any special opening or closing instructions or information
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Federal, State and local employment laws.
Experience with data entry and data management.
- Must have experience in management.
- Excellent Microsoft Office and Internet skills. Ability to create forms and spreadsheets using tables and formulas.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Good interpersonal skills required.
- Must be reliable (good attendance and punctuality), organized, flexible, and posses excellent time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy required.
- Must possess a high level of integrity, and ability to maintain confidential information.
- Retail experience is a must.
- Problem solving skills.
- Organization and planning skills.
- Ability to delegate effectively.
- Comfortable in a fast paced working environment.
- Able to push/pull heavy loads up to 75 lbs.
- Able to use mechanical equipment/forklift.
