Job Title: Grocery Stocker/General Merchandizer

Job Summary

The Grocery Stocker with General Merchandising Duties is responsible for maintaining a well-stocked, organized, and visually appealing retail environment. This role ensures products are properly stocked, rotated, and displayed to maximize sales and enhance the customer shopping experience. The position combines routine stocking tasks with basic merchandising responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities

Stocking & Inventory

• Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments
• Stock shelves, end caps, and displays with merchandise
• Rotate products to ensure freshness and minimize spoilage (FIFO method)
• Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or discrepancies
• Remove damaged, expired, or unsellable items
• Maintain clean and organized stockrooms and sales floor areas

Merchandising

• Set up product displays according to company planograms and promotional guidelines
• Ensure shelves and displays are full, neat, and visually appealing
• Place signage, price labels, and promotional materials accurately
• Assist with seasonal resets and store layout changes
• Identify opportunities to improve product placement and presentation
• All other duties as assigned

Customer Service

• Assist customers in locating products and answering basic questions
• Provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service
• Direct customer concerns to appropriate supervisors when needed

Store Maintenance & Safety

• Maintain cleanliness of aisles, shelves, and common areas
• Follow safety procedures when handling equipment and products
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations
• Operate equipment such as pallet jacks and stock carts safely

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Ability to lift and move heavy items (typically up to 40–50 lbs)
• Basic math and reading skills
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred

• Previous retail, grocery, or stocking experience
• Familiarity with merchandising standards or planograms
• Customer service experience
