JOB PURPOSE
The EHS Coordinator plays a strategic role in developing and executing EHS performance programs at Heartland Fabrication, LLC. This role collaborates closely with employees, production operations, maintenance, engineering, and management leadership to develop, implement, and maintain programs that foster a safe and compliant environment. This position reports to the EHS Manager as part of the People Operations Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Safety Program Management
- Provide assistance in the development and implementation of comprehensive health and safety programs across all operational areas.
- Drive a culture of safety accountability and engagement.
- Integrate environmental, health, and safety objectives into overall business strategy to enhance performance and reduce risk.
EHS Performance Management
- Establish organizational safety objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs); monitor and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop standardized audit protocols and reporting systems to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
Training, Coaching, & Education
- Design and implementation of company-wide safety training tools, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and operational needs.
- Delivery of training programs, including emergency preparedness, compliance, PPE usage, and behavior-based safety.
- Support the onboarding of newly hired employees for all industrial and administrative positions and aid in facilitating safety conversations in the Training Center curriculum.
Incident Management
- Assist with injury reporting, incident logs, and safety performance tracking; ensure data integrity and regulatory alignment.
- Aid in all aspects of Workers’ Compensation/USL&H programs, including claims coordination and Return-to-Work Programs.
Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Oversight
- Ensure organizational compliance with OSHA, EPA, DEP and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Lead facility readiness for regulatory inspections and audits; coordinate response actions and continuous improvement plans.
General Support
- Execute additional responsibilities as needed to drive EHS excellence and contribute to the company’s
strategic vision.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- Four-year college degree in Safety Management, engineering, or closely related field
- Experience:
- At least 0-5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment or closely related industry
- Familiarity with common business and EHS management software and systems
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Heavy industrial worksite environment
- Exposure to outdoor elements, extreme heat and cold, dust, chemicals, and loud noise
- Standing for extended periods; lifting, bending, crouching, climbing, and working in confined spaces
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Safety-sensitive position; subject to pre-employment and reasonable-suspicion drug testing
- Overtime and flexible scheduling required
