TITLE OF POSITION: Core Make CLASSIFICATION: Core Manufacturing

BASIC PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Core Room Supervisor, perform various procedures, using mechanical core making or mixing operations preparing manufactured sand cores for further processing in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.

This job includes operation of Redford’s 16, 21, 23, 26, Caufield, Lampe, Pace master, and core machines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Per written process directions, prepares specific machine or work area for daily production of cores.

2. The coremaker employee acquires the specific process card for the job being performed and follows all written directions.

3. During operation of the core production, the coremaker employee ensures that all quality and production procedures are followed 

and production and delay data is recorded on pace board. 

4. The coremaker ensures that correct tooling is used for all jobs by written process cards.

5. Performs all box changing procedures and machine set procedures following all safety guidelines, including lockout and lifting 

procedures ensuring safety and protection of the tooling.

6. Practices good housekeeping habits always and prepares the area for the next shift daily.

7. Attend daily scrap review meetings and work with other department employees in scrap reduction.

8. Attend weekly employee meetings.

9. Notify the supervisor of any maintenance concerns and tooling problems or concerns.

10.Report all accidents to supervisor immediately.

11. Additional duties may be required.

Requirements

  

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Minimum of completion of the tenth (10) grade, high school. Must possess the ability to follow written and verbal directions. Must have the ability to move freely throughout the department, lift fifty pounds on a regular basis, stand for a full shift, and operate powered overhead cranes. Must be trained in safety requirements of materials and chemicals used in the process, PPE requirements and use, hazard recognition, lockout/tagout, and any other safety requirements for employment at Browntown Foundry.
