Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Brownwood - Main - Brownwood, TX 76801Position Type: Full TimeJob Category: AccountingSUMMARY: The Backoffice Operations Support Specialist is a cross-functional position responsible for providing operational support and coverage across the Bank’s backoffice functions, including Retail Backoffice Operations, Wire Operations, Teller Operations, and other operational areas as assigned. This position is cross-trained in multiple functions and may rotate between departments based on staffing needs, transaction volumes, business continuity, and organizational priorities. The Specialist processes and reviews banking transactions, assists with account and transaction research, reconciliations, exception processing, wire transfers, teller and vault cash controls, and other operational functions. The position requires a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, adaptability, and adherence to Bank policies and applicable regulatory requirements. JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Provide cross-functional operational support and coverage to Retail Backoffice Operations, Wire Operations, Teller Operations, and other assigned backoffice functions. Process and review operational transactions, including exception and non-posted items, NSF and returned items, ACH activity, wire transfers, account maintenance, adjustments, and other assigned transactions. Assist with incoming and outgoing wire processing, including verification of transaction information, available funds, required documentation, and established authentication and approval procedures. Perform general ledger reconciliations, account balancing, certifications, and related operational reporting; research and resolve discrepancies as appropriate. Support teller operations, including teller and vault cash reconciliations, cash balancing, cash audits, over/short research, and other cash-control activities as assigned. Assist with monitoring and verification of teller and vault cash levels, cash shipments or transfers, and related records and documentation in accordance with established cash-control and dual-control procedures. Process and support operational functions including Positive Pay, stop payments, check adjustments, research requests, dormant account activity, legal requests, and other backoffice servicing activities. Maintain accurate records, case documentation, transaction support, reconciliations, cash-control documentation, and reports in accordance with Bank retention, audit, and compliance requirements. Respond to inquiries and provide operational support to branches, internal departments, customers, and applicable third-party service providers. Follow established procedures, authorization levels, dual-control requirements, segregation-of-duties controls, and cash-control requirements applicable to assigned responsibilities. Adhere to TexasBank policies and procedures and applicable banking laws and regulations, including BSA/AML, KYC, Regulation E, and other requirements applicable to assigned functions. Participate in cross-training and maintain proficiency in assigned backoffice and teller operational functions to provide effective departmental coverage. Identify and communicate opportunities to improve processes, controls, operational efficiency, fraud mitigation, and customer service. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support organizational and operational needs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Air-conditioned office environment. Weekend hours are required. Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in banking operations, financial services, transaction processing, fraud/card services, teller operations, or a related operational role. General understanding of banking operations, transaction processing, account maintenance, reconciliations, cash controls, and operational controls. Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process financial transactions and maintain supporting documentation. Ability and willingness to cross-train in multiple operational areas and transition between responsibilities based on business needs. Ability to research and resolve routine operational issues and appropriately escalate complex, unusual, or high-risk matters. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet processing deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with customers, employees, vendors, and multiple internal departments. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive customer, account, transaction, and fraud-related information. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn and efficiently navigate banking systems and job-specific applications.     PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:  Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Criminal Justice, or a related field. Previous experience in two or more banking operational areas, such as retail operations, teller operations, wires, ACH, fraud, debit cards, disputes, reconciliations, or cash management. Knowledge of applicable banking regulations and operational requirements, including BSA/AML, KYC, Regulation E, ACH processing, wire transfers, fraud prevention, and teller/cash controls.
