Help keep our community safe, comfortable, and ready for residents.

We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Assistant / Service Technician to complete repairs, respond to work orders, prepare apartments for move-in, and support the daily upkeep of our community.

About the Opportunity

As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Maintenance Lead and Director of Property Maintenance to keep resident apartments, common areas, grounds, and community equipment operating safely and efficiently.

This is a hands-on position combining general building maintenance, apartment make-readies, porter duties, preventive maintenance, and resident service. The role also participates in the community’s scheduled on-call rotation for after-hours maintenance needs.

What You’ll Own

  • Complete resident work orders promptly and professionally, including repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, appliances, fixtures, and other building components
  • Perform apartment make-readies, inspections, and repairs to return vacant units to clean, safe, market-ready condition
  • Complete painting, sheetrock repair, light carpentry, flooring repair, and other general maintenance projects
  • Identify and address leaks, damaged fixtures, lighting issues, safety hazards, and equipment concerns
  • Assist with the upkeep of common areas, grounds, parking areas, pools or spas, fences, gates, patios, stairs, and railings
  • Perform porter duties, including trash removal, debris cleanup, storage-area organization, and general community upkeep
  • Support preventive maintenance inspections and maintain accurate work-order and service records
  • Properly maintain tools, maintenance equipment, supplies, and work areas
  • Participate in the scheduled on-call rotation and respond to after-hours maintenance needs when assigned

What Success Looks Like

  • Resident work orders are completed accurately, safely, and within expected timelines
  • Vacant apartments are returned to market-ready condition on schedule
  • Common areas, grounds, and maintenance spaces remain clean, organized, and well maintained
  • Potential safety or maintenance concerns are identified before they become larger problems
  • Residents and team members receive professional, respectful, and responsive service

Who This Role Is For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least six months of hands-on maintenance experience; one or more years in an apartment, senior living, hotel, residential, or comparable setting is preferred
  • Experience with general plumbing, electrical repairs, appliance repair, painting, sheetrock, light carpentry, and building maintenance
  • Basic HVAC knowledge or experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple work orders and priorities
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, or after-hours shifts as part of an on-call rotation
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs or ladders, and lift or move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

What Sets You Apart

  • You take pride in completing quality work the right way
  • You’re dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable working independently
  • You understand that maintenance work directly affects resident satisfaction
  • You’re willing to step in where needed and contribute to a team-oriented environment
  • You stay calm and solution-focused when urgent maintenance issues arise

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to build broad maintenance experience while making a visible difference in the daily lives of our residents. You’ll work across multiple areas of community operations, develop your technical skills, and grow with an organization that promotes from within.
