Crane/Forklift Operator

Brief Summary:

The Crane/Forklift Operator uses an overhead crane to hoist large pieces of material to aide the department in pipe production
 

Responsibilities:

• Assist Machine Operator in the setup of department for processing of material. 
• Operate overhead crane with chains or C-hook to move coils, materials, and equipment. 
• Operate various stations along the slitting line in a safe and productive manner, observe flow and monitor quality of material as it is processed to detect irregular cutting and winding; make necessary adjustments to correct. 
• Band coils and move coils to designated areas. 
• Basic housekeeping in general work area. 
• Perform general maintenance and lubrication and repair on the department. 
• Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description. 

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, OR Equivalency Certificate, (GED (General Education Degree), etc.) 
• One to three months equivalent experience in related field OR, Proof of training in an area related to the job assignment 
• Must be able to read and understand the Procedures and Work Instructions for the position held. 
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements. 

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. 
• The employee frequently is required to climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. 
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
