We are seeking a Senior Field Mechanic to join our Equipment team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment in the field, supporting active job sites and ensuring minimal downtime.

The ideal candidate is highly experienced, able to work independently in a service truck environment, and comfortable making real-time repair decisions in fast-paced construction settings.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment directly on job sites (excavators, dozers, loaders, trucks, and support equipment)
  • Perform both emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance in the field to minimize equipment downtime
  • Operate a service truck and travel to various job sites as needed
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and safety
  • Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools to accurately identify issues
  • Communicate with operators, foremen, and project teams to understand equipment concerns and prioritize repairs
  • Coordinate with vendors, parts suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to source parts and resolve technical issues
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and equipment reports
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and maintenance processes
  • Mentor or provide guidance to junior mechanics as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair (construction environment preferred)
  • Strong experience working in the field or mobile service environment (not just shop-based)
  • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in demanding conditions (weather, job sites, travel)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with operations teams
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)
  • Experience with equipment maintenance software or work order systems preferred
  • Commitment to safety and promoting a positive, inclusive work environment
