About the Role:

The Public Attendant I plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the public in various facilities such as parks, recreational centers, and public restrooms. This position ensures that all public areas are regularly inspected, cleaned, and stocked with necessary supplies to promote hygiene and comfort for all visitors. The attendant will interact courteously with the public, providing assistance and information as needed to enhance their experience. Additionally, the role involves monitoring facility conditions and promptly reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel. Ultimately, the Public Attendant I contributes to the overall positive impression and smooth operation of public spaces, supporting community well-being and satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic communication skills to interact effectively with the public and team members.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and use cleaning equipment properly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or public service roles.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
  • Customer service experience in a public-facing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of facility maintenance and reporting procedures.
  • Certification in workplace safety or first aid.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of public restrooms, common areas, and other designated spaces to maintain high standards of hygiene.
  • Restock supplies such as toilet paper, soap, paper towels, and other necessary items to ensure availability for all visitors.
  • Monitor public areas for safety hazards, cleanliness, and proper functioning of facilities, reporting any issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Provide courteous and helpful assistance to visitors by answering questions, giving directions, and addressing concerns in a professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, supply usage, and any incidents or maintenance needs encountered during shifts.
