The Receiving Inspector Lead will ensure the accurate and efficient inspection of incoming materials and components, leading a team dedicated to upholding quality standards, identifying discrepancies, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include executing repetitive and routine inspections, visual checks and functional tests applying sampling procedures of inbound material according to the defined Inspection Plan, utilizing various inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges and inspection jigs to check dimensions on parts or raw material to ensure compliance to drawings/blueprints/specifications, and recording inspection data and documentation accurately. The role works closely with Supplier Quality Technicians and Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure compliance with parts specifications and critical characteristics, completes assignments on time without direct supervision, assures correct identification and segregation of nonconformance/discrepant material, supports purges and internal screening activities, communicates with Buyers and Supplier Quality Engineers on quality and documental issues, and escalates issues when needed. The lead supports improvement initiatives, participates actively to improve the work environment, stays up-to-date on certifications and training, and trains new receiving inspectors including inspection of their work output. The role requires proficiency in computer skills, strict attention to detail, understanding of inspection procedures, ability to work with minimum supervision, clear communication of nonconformance issues, flexibility to work overtime, nights, shifts and weekends, and physical ability to lift up to 45 pounds and wear personal protective equipment. Equipment used may include forklifts, pallet jacks, barcode scanners, height gage, caliper, CMM, micrometer, and other inspection tools. The role involves working in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment with physical stamina and fine motor control, visual inspection requiring acute near vision, and repetitive computer tasks creating and saving quality records. Travel requirements are less than 60%.
