ACCOUNTING MANAGER (Permanent)
Our client, an established non-profit organization in WNY, is looking to hire an Accounting Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity, with a great work-life balance, to have an impact on the community and perform purpose-driven work.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations to ensure that the organization is running smoothly
- Manage, mentor, and train accounting personnel— 4 staff members including a Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant, Grants Administrator, and a Part-time Accountant
- Manage all aspects of fund, investment, and trust accounting—including income allocations & CRTs (Charitable Remainder Trusts)
- Oversee grant and distribution processes, ensuring funds are being allocated appropriately
- Ensure gift, stock and contribution accounting processes are being carried out in a detailed/efficient manner
- Audit accounting processes and determine if there are any areas for improvement
- Create and implement process improvements to streamline efficiencies
- Audit accounting systems and conduct research into newer/up-to-date systems to implement and improve financial workflows
- Train accounting staff on new processes/financial systems as they are being implemented
- Prepare annual budgets utilizing actual financial reports; conduct budget analysis vs. spending and prepare/present quarterly budget reports to upper leadership and external stakeholders
- Juggle multiple tasks at a time in a fast-paced environment
- Work well in a team environment as well as independently
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full-time, direct hire (great work/life balance with 40 hour weeks: 35 hours work week with 1 hour lunch each day)
- 100% in-office
- $75,000 - $90,000 annually depending on experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years’ experience in public or private accounting
- Experience with debits/credits required
- Experience with fund accounting, investment accounting, trust accounting, etc. highly preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred; innate leadership skills for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficient computer skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Quick learner
- Meticulous attention to detail!!!
