Position Overview
GTI is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of prefabricated steel enclosures and modular systems at our Buffalo manufacturing facility. This entry-level engineering role supports mechanical design, drawing development, and engineering analysis activities under the guidance of senior engineers. The Associate Mechanical Engineer will work closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to translate design concepts into production-ready mechanical documentation.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop 2D and 3D mechanical design drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Support the design of modular steel enclosures, equipment housings, and structural assemblies
• Perform basic CFD and thermal analysis related to HVAC and airflow within containerized systems
• Assist with FEA analysis of steel weldments and fabricated assemblies
• Interpret engineering markups and revise drawings, schematics, and fabrication documentation
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs support fabrication processes and assembly workflows
• Apply knowledge of sheet metal design, weldments, and modular construction methods in mechanical designs
• Support engineering documentation including bills of materials, revision control, and drawing release packages
• Assist with prototype builds and manufacturing troubleshooting when engineering clarification is required
• Support project timelines by completing assigned engineering deliverables accurately and on schedule
• Maintain compliance with GTI engineering standards and safety policies

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 0–3 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or engineering support roles
• Proficiency using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Familiarity with sheet metal design, structural weldments, and metal fabrication concepts
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within cross-functional engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications
• Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or product design environments
• Exposure to design for manufacturing (DFM) principles
• Experience with modular structures, prefabricated systems, or heavy-gauge metal fabrication
• Familiarity with CFD, FEA, or simulation tools used in mechanical design
