Summary

Provides resident centered personal care including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining vital signs, psychosocial support and other personal cares.

Job Description

Assists residents in transferring, repositioning and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment; provides range of motion and passive exercise. Completes tasks related to dining and food preparation. Assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate. Provides a positive dining experience. Provides the right medication to the right person at the right time in the right dose and by the right route ensuring all changes in medication are responded to in a timely manner. Accurately documents outcomes related to resident cares, medications/treatments, behaviors, activities and dietary. Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational; follows consistent hand washing and Personal Protective Equipment use. Provides assistance/documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate. Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse, dietary manager, recreational coordinator, and environmental services manager. Must possess a desire to work with residents in sub-acute care and long term care.

Qualifications

Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of resident care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.

Food service experience preferred, but not required.

In Minnesota a Certified Nursing Assistant must be certified and registered with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
