Title: Raw Materials Lab Analyst

Job Type: Full-Time Salary Exempt

Salary: $62,000-67,000/annually based on experience

Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Raw Materials Laboratory Analyst to join our laboratory team. This entry-level position will provide hands-on laboratory support for our engineering team and affiliated tire manufacturing facilities. Our laboratory focuses on the research and development of new rubber compounds, as well as benchmarking, characterization, and testing of current and new material.

Reports to: Lab Supervisor

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Perform routine chemical analysis and characterization of rubber compounds.
  • Prepare samples, including samples from tires, milling, mixing and curing of mill sheet rubber, preparing solutions.
  • Perform laboratory-scale mixing of rubber compounds using a Banbury mixer.
  • Accurately weigh stage polymers, fillers, chemicals, oils, curatives, processing aids and other raw materials.
  • Operates various analytical instrumentation and physical testing equipment.
  • Validates equipment operation, performs calibration if necessary and supports troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment.
  • Record, review, and report laboratory test results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Enter and maintain laboratory data in applicable databases, spreadsheets and/or laboratory management systems.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures.
  • Properly label, store, and dispose of chemicals and materials.

 

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Material/Polymer Science or Related field or associate's degree in related field with analytical laboratory experience.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry, laboratory practices, and analytical testing.
  • Good mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to accurately document and communicate laboratory results.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow experimental procedures, SDS's and PPE guidelines.
  • 1-3 years' experience as a Lab Technician or other applicable work experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (ability to assemble equipment, understand how a variety of test equipment operates, etc.)
  • Ability to multitask and juggle multiple responsibilities/projects/deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Ability to lift 25 – 30 lbs.
