Moog is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to interface with Quality, Manufacturing, and Design Engineering on manufacturing issues to develop test equipment for circuit card testing and to resolve issues that arise during the manufacture and test of circuit cards.  The current tasks would include being responsible for the common Actuator Control Unit (ACU), with its’ several Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), and Electronics Box transition to production.  Tasks includes design and development of test equipment for use by designer engineers, production engineers, and production test personnel.  The tester set development includes:

  • Hardware design including interface design, wiring diagrams, rack documentation, power distribution, Switch Matrix, Data Acquisition, COTS test equipment, etc.

  • Test equipment programming – LabView, LabWindows/CVI, Python, C, C++, C#

  • Test equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and general support

  • Integration of COTS equipment – Signal generators, multimeters, power supplies, computers

  • Cable design – Schematics and mechanical design

  • Test equipment build and verification including qualification acceptance

Responsibilities:

  • Create successful transition plans for electronic designs moving into production and eventually into the Supply Chain. 

  • Lead test equipment and EIS issue resolution efforts to ensure a smooth transition of designs to production.

  • Participate in and assist with supplier training of test equipment and/or providing test equipment requirements to aid in their development at the supplier.

  • Transition of test equipment into Moog factory or manufacturing subcontractor site.

  • Provide test equipment specifications and guidance for test equipment developed by subcontractor partners.

  • Make updates to equipment and software to improve production efficiency while reducing test execution time.

  • Lead cross-site efforts of New Product Introduction (NPI) for engineering and test aspects.

  • Lead and support technical problem-solving efforts to resolve issues with complex electronic assemblies to resolve systemic non-conformances. 

  • Must understand overall specifications / requirements and be able to troubleshoot to root cause while working closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Test on Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Typically, 10 years’ experience with demonstrated exceptional technical skills and knowledge.

  • Proven capabilities for troubleshooting electronic hardware and software assemblies.

  • Proven ability to lead and coach others and collaborate in a team environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, and Notepad++.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • This position requires access to United States export-controlled information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience.

  • Expertise with the following (or similar) development tools:

    • Programming:  National Instruments Labview & Labwindows/CVI, Python, Microsoft visual Studio C/C++/C#

    • Circuit card development:  Cadence Orcad & Allegro

    • Microprocessor: C, assembly language

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $100,000.00–$120,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
