Shipping Supervisor
DiVal Safety Equipment-Buffalo, NY

DiVal Safety Equipment, a leader in the Industrial Safety, Fire, and EMS distribution business, is looking for credible and motivated Shipping Supervisor with a safety focused “whatever it takes” attitude.

The main responsibility of this position is to provide accurate and efficient warehouse shipping practices, oversee and manage all shipping warehouse teammates, with Safety and DiVal Values being the priority. They create and communicate schedules to meet shipping goals and report directly to the Warehouse Assistant Manager. They coordinate and execute daily warehouse operations and ensure quality performance standards are met or exceeded. 

Duties and Responsibilities -

  • Always focus on safety – safety training and direction must be always adhered to. Providing a safe working environment for all employees by communication of related training and policies for equipment and vehicles and reporting any existing or potential safety concerns quickly
  • Maintains constant communication to ensure workload awareness to other personnel (Sales, Customer Care and Managers) to maximize shipments and delivery experience
  • Coordinate manpower needs by providing training, assigning and scheduling duties based on workload and staff availability
  • Ensure all orders on the must ship board are in good standing and completed daily
  • Communicate job expectations, continually monitoring teammates and providing positive feedback and training opportunities, as well as performance counseling
  • Prepare and submit all necessary daily paperwork in a timely manner as required.
  • Assist with the investigation of any issues that question warehouse credibility addressing all concerns with the highest sense of urgency
  • Assist in developing continuous technological improvements working in conjunction with the IT department to improve productivity, always maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Perform additional warehouse duties that may arise and assigned by the Management, including opening and closing duties
  • Make the customers experience positive, productive and enjoyable 

Skills and Requirements –

  • Strong leadership, organization skills, detail oriented, self-motivated, strong time management skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management, such as prioritizing tasks based on urgency and requirements
  • Possess advanced computer experience, proficient with data Entry and AS400 background preferred
  • Ability to pass a D.O.T. physical with drug screen
  • High school diploma / GED or equivalent, an associate's degree preferred
