ROLE PURPOSE: 

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring that production operations run safely, efficiently, and reliably. Your purpose extends beyond fixing equipment, and is essential to uptime, product quality, cost control, and regulatory compliance.


In this role, you will perform all tasks associated with installing, adjusting, troubleshooting, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment in order to keep the operations running in a safe, efficient manner.

WORKING HOURS:  7:00AM - 3:30pm M-F (Occasional OT as needed) 

Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responds in a timely manner to work requests from the plant.
  • Troubleshoots equipment to determine root causes of outages in production, reliability, safety, or quality.
  • Implements solutions to restore proper operation of equipment.
  • Analyzes equipment to identify potential improvements and solutions to recurring problems.
  • Works with plant personnel to increase their knowledge base and skill set on the equipment.
  • Must be capable of working alone to support plant operations
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks on equipment as assigned.
  • Completes tasks in a timely manner and reports status to plant CMMS system.
  • Ensures that equipment is operating stably, safely, and within validated parameters to produce good-quality product.
  • May suggest additional preventive maintenance tasks based on experience and history with equipment.
  • May assist in defining preventive maintenance tasks, critical spares, or other procedures for new equipment.
  • Performs mechanical and electrical work as necessary in the plant.
  • Mechanical work may include millwright work (setting, leveling, anchoring, cutting, drilling, tapping, grinding, alignment), assembly, tubing, or pipefitting.
  • Electrical work may include power and control wiring, installation of panels or enclosures, or configuring instrumentation.
  • Performs minor mechanical and electrical fabrication work in the shop.
  • Provides support for internal or customer audits as needed (safety, environmental, quality, etc.)
  • Provides support for initiatives, such as continuous improvement, new product trials, equipment acceptance or qualification, etc.
  • Works with production personnel by assisting in training of plant personnel on the operation of equipment, autonomous maintenance, basic care and troubleshooting.
  • Adheres to all plant safety policies and standards (OSHA and internal) and leads by example with regard to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Behavior-Based Safety Observations, and other safety-related job expectations.
  • Maintains inventory of assigned tools and related supplies and keeps in good working condition.
  • Maintains a clean work environment both inside and outside the facility by using good housekeeping habits. Has a basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this position will include a competitive base salary and an Annual Target Bonus opportunity. Details provided separately.

Paid time off for this position will consist of accrued vacation at a competitive level, along with 11 Holidays and a day off for your Birthday! 40 hours of wellness time is also available on your first day of employment. Additionally, a company shutdown period is offered for one week between Christmas and New Year’s Day where the majority of business operations pause, and employees are encouraged to rest and recover together. Critical functions may require limited coverage to ensure business continuity.

Requirements

  Skills and Requirements

  • 4 - 6+ years' experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Reads and understands drawings, schematics, manuals and procedures for equipment and processes.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email.
  • Ability to work within the framework of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work requests, preventive maintenance, fixed asset data, and spare parts inventory. Thermacell uses Limble CMMS.
  • Certification or willingness to certify in operating forklifts, scissor lifts, or other motorized equipment.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written and spoken English).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with relevant process, packaging and utilities equipment is a plus.

Equipment could include the following:

  1. Liquid processing: tanks and piping, mixers, pumps of various types, valves.
  2. Liquid filling and dispensing systems.
  3. Material handling systems: conveyors, pallet jacks, forklifts, loading dock equipment.
  4. Packaging: horizontal flow wrappers, rotary assembly machines, blister packaging, retail cartoners, case erectors and sealers, printers, labelers, weigh conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers.
  5. Pneumatics: Cylinders, actuators, directional valves, regulators, vacuum generators.
  6. Electrical/Controls: pushbuttons, lights, switches, relays, limit and proximity switches, photoeyes, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), operator interfaces, control communication networks, solenoids, motors and starters, variable frequency drives, servo motors and drives, 480V and 120V power and control wiring, scale electronics, vision systems, pneumatics, sensors and transmitters for measurement of pressure, temperature, level, flow, etc.
  7. Utilities/Facilities: HVAC, plumbing, fire protection/fire alarms, and air compressors.
