Job DetailsJob Location: Buhler, KS 67522 Job Title: Beautician Location: Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community Position Summary The Beautician provides professional hair care and related grooming services to residents in a manner that promotes dignity, self-esteem, comfort, and quality of life. Services are provided in accordance with resident preferences, facility policies, infection prevention standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide haircuts, shampoos, styling, roller sets, permanents, color services, beard trims, and other approved salon services. Treat all residents with dignity, respect, privacy, and compassion in accordance with resident rights (CMS F550-F584). Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary salon environment in accordance with infection prevention practices. Clean and disinfect all equipment, tools, and work surfaces between each resident. Follow standard precautions and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as indicated. Observe residents for changes in skin condition, scalp integrity, bruising, lesions, or other concerns and promptly report findings to the charge nurse. Verify physician approval when required for residents with medical conditions or recent procedures that may affect salon services. Schedule appointments while accommodating resident preferences and facility routines. Ensure residents are transported safely to and from the salon when applicable. Maintain accurate records of services provided and fees charged according to facility procedures. Safeguard resident belongings and personal grooming items. Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism with residents, families, visitors, and staff. Participate in facility education programs and required in-service training. Follow all facility emergency preparedness and safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator or designee. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds. Sufficient manual dexterity to perform hair care services safely. Ability to safely assist residents as appropriate within facility guidelines. Working Conditions Primarily works in the facility salon but may provide bedside services when appropriate. Exposure to water, hair care chemicals, and cleaning/disinfecting products. Frequent interaction with elderly residents, including those with cognitive impairment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent customer service skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of infection control and sanitation standards. Ability to maintain resident confidentiality (HIPAA). Ability to promote resident independence, choice, and dignity. Performance Expectations Successful performance is demonstrated by: High resident satisfaction with salon services.
