WAREHOUSE/YARD OPERATOR

Location: Russell, KS

Department: Gluten Operations

Position Reports To: Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

Indirectly Reports To: Plant Manager and Operations Manager

Position Purpose

PureField Ingredients is seeking a Warehouse/Yard Operator to support packaging, warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations at our Wheat Plant. This position is responsible for safely handling finished products, loading trucks and railcars, operating packaging equipment, and maintaining food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and enjoys hands-on work in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Operate packaging equipment and bulk bag filling systems.
  • Set up packaging lines, load bag magazines, and verify lot coding information.
  • Inspect and document magnets and other food safety control points.
  • Inspect and clean pallets, packaging materials, and ingredient containers.
  • Load and inspect van trucks, bulk trucks, and railcars according to established procedures.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Move and store finished products in designated warehouse locations.
  • Complete forklift inspections and required operational documentation.
  • Follow procedures for damaged product, product reclaim, and material handling.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness through housekeeping and sanitation activities.
  • Communicate effectively with truck drivers, contractors, and plant personnel.
  • Follow all company safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Hot Work procedures.
  • Comply with all SQF, FSMA, food safety, and quality requirements.
  • Attend required safety and food safety training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Previous warehouse, manufacturing, agricultural, shipping, or receiving experience preferred.
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
  • Understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures.

  • Ability to safely operate or learn warehouse and packaging equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with employees, contractors, and customers.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
  • Frequently enter and exit forklifts and other equipment.
  • Work in warehouse and production environments with exposure to dust, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to safely perform duties while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.

This position follows a rotating day shift schedule, shifts are Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Employees also participate in a rotating on-call schedule and must be available to respond to operational needs during assigned weekends.
