Pay rate will be between $15.00 to $17.00 per hour

 

Temporary full-time substitute teacher for an initial 3-month assignment, transitioning to an as-needed substitute role thereafter. This position will provide coverage during staff absences, vacations, and periods of high client census.

 

Work hours will be scheduled between 7:45 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday

 

Easterseals Florida's Explorer Academy in Bunnell is seeking a reliable and flexible Substitute Teacher to provide classroom support when regular staff are absent. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment while supporting children's learning and daily routines.

What You'll Do

  • Provide classroom coverage across multiple age groups as needed
  • Follow lesson plans, schedules, and guidance from the Director or classroom teacher
  • Supervise children at all times and maintain proper staff to child ratios
  • Assist with daily activities such as learning centers, meals, toileting, outdoor play, and rest time
  • Support children's social and emotional development through positive interactions
  • Engage children by asking open-ended questions that will extend their vocabulary and build on their knowledge of the world around them
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance and daily notes
  • Communicate professionally with families and staff
  • Keep classrooms clean, organized, and safe; follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures
  • Uphold confidentiality, Easterseals policies, and privacy standards
  • Adapt quickly to different classrooms and routines; serve as a positive role model
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities
  • Perform other duties as needed to support program operations

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with young children preferred
  • Successfully complete the Florida Department of Children & Families 45-hour Child Care Training in early childhood education within the first 90 days.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs
  • Positive, patient, and supportive interactions with children
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Willingness to learn DCF standards, ASQ, Conscious Discipline, and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Energetic, professional, flexible, and aligned with Easterseals' values
