POSITION SUMMARY

The HSE Specialist’s overall mission is to help ensure HSE compliance and incident prevention. Supporting operations in Burkesville, KY this role works across departmental lines to support safe production processes and foster a proactive safety culture throughout the facility. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Be presenton the manufacturing floor, seek to understand operational challenges,and be a sought-after resourcefor risk mitigation andHSEcompliance. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational safety,healthand environmentalregulations and Kelvion standards. Assist Operations in understanding, planning, andexecution. 
  • Coordinate safe work permit processesand job hazard analysisfor high-risk activities (e.g.,non-routine contractor work), ensuring proper risk controls and approvals are in place. 
  • Conduct regular audits, workplace inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and compliance gapsand solutions. 
  • Collaborate withproduction, engineering, and maintenance teams to integrate safety controls into equipment and processes (e.g., machine guarding, ventilation systems) and ensure safe and ergonomic conditions. 
  • Coordinate, develop and deliver effective safetyand environmentaltraining. 
  • Lead incident investigations and facilitate root cause analysis. 
  • Perform or coordinate worker exposure monitoring.
  • Serve as the liaisonwith state and federal agenciesduringinspections andcoordinateall environmentalsampling andreporting.
  • Track, analyze, and reportHSEperformance metrics for site and corporate management review, highlighting progress and areas for continuous improvement. 
  • Coordinateemergency response planning and drills.
  • Maintain required safety documentation and records to ensure accurate, up-to-date compliance reporting and audit readiness. 

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • Working knowledge ofstate and federalHSEregulationsand industry standards (e.g. ISO, ANSI, NFPA)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a production environment. 
  • Building positive relationships and influencingstakeholders. 
  • Manufacturing process understanding.
  • Strong computer skills, including data analysis, using AI for predictive analytics,and reportingof metrics.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a positive safety culture across the organization. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safetypreferred, or5-10 years of industrial experience, HSEcertifications, anda proven track record ofperforming HSE functionsin lieu of safety degree.
  • Associate orCertified Safety Professionalpreferred.
  • OSHA30-Hour (General Industry or Construction)preferred.
  • First Aid/CPRDOT First Responder Levelpreferred.
