Sales Associate

As a Sales Solutions Generalist you’ll provide each customer with the best experience possible by helping them find and purchase animals, supplies and services. During each interaction, you will discuss the needs of the guest and their pet/s to provide solutions for today, as well as in the future and assist with connecting them with a Specialist when appropriate. You’ll work the cash register and ensure that our merchandise is properly stocked and priced, providing an excellent experience for each of our guests. You can excel in this role by exhibiting a passion for the welfare, health, and proper handling of all animals as well as being a positive partner within the whole Pet Care Center team. Position Responsibilities include providing a great experience by engaging with guests utilizing your acquired skills and training; assisting guests in the proper selection of merchandise in accordance with their identified needs; demonstrating a high level of interest in the welfare, health, and proper handling of all animals; processing transactions in a way that creates a great experience for each guest; generating future business through a deep understanding of the guests and their pet/s; performing related duties in support of the Pet Care Center attaining its assigned sales goals; ensuring merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation for guests; completing and applying training programs to maintain a high level of expertise; adhering to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures; promoting a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration; completing other duties and special projects as assigned; evaluating guest inquiries and referring to the Leader on Duty as needed. Other essential duties include utilizing selling behaviors to provide an amazing guest experience, contributing to a safe environment by maintaining safety protocols, being part of a collaborative culture centered around pet health and wellness, and engaging in career development programs. Basic qualifications include the ability to work successfully within a team, professional appearance and demeanor, genuine interest in animals and their care, and good interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Preferred qualifications include prior experience in sales, retail, or related fields and a high level of knowledge of pet nutrition and sales techniques. The work environment is mostly indoors with some physical activity such as bending, kneeling, moving merchandise, and standing for long periods. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs using material handling equipment. Availability for shifts on evenings, weekends, some overnights, and holidays is required.
