The Summer Leaders-in-Training (LIT) Coordinator Position will lead and manage the Recreation Department’s LIT program for Grades 8 and above. This role oversees recruitment, selection, placement, supervision, and evaluation of LITs, and supports the development of leadership, accountability, and positive engagement in summer programs.


Leaders-In-Training Coordinator  

Dates of Employment: June - August 


Qualifications:

Experience working with middle school-age youth. 

Experience in a supervisory position or previous employment in a youth program.

Ability to create a curriculum for the Leaders-In-Training program. 

Ability to transport themselves to the Burlington Parks and Recreation Programs throughout the day.

Must possess great judgement and problem-solving skills.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, select, and place LITs
  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate LITs
  • Maintain records, including accident reports, evaluation worksheets, volunteer hours, and LITs schedules.
  • Support the LITs to help the development of leadership, accountability, and positive engagement in summer programs.
  • Answer directly to the Assistant Program Coordinator  and Summer Program Administrator.
  • Give program feedback to superiors and implement programmatic changes as requested
  • Other duties as requested
