 How will you make an impact and what you will do?

This position, located in Burlington, MA, will contribute to the development activities, sustaining needs and transfer of the company's new medical devices. Supports engineers in exercising judgment in building prototypes, developing test methods and conducting tests, collecting data and evaluating against specific criteria and maintaining equipment to implement designs, create technical reports, and ensure product/system functionality.

The Engineering Technician is responsible in the areas of mechanical components and assembly build and test. Specific duties include mechanical and electro-mechanical prototyping and testing – thermal, structural, fluidic, and kinematic. Additionally, support mechanical parts procurement, documenting, and drafting if applicable.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Assist engineers in designing, building, modifying, and testing prototypes and systems.
  • Testing & Data: Perform experiments, run diagnostics, calibrate equipment, and collect/analyze data for engineering projects.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Create detailed lab reports, technical drawings (CAD), and project documentation.
  • Support Design Transfer: Design verification and validation activities and design transfer related tasks.
  • Sustaining Engineering: Support sustaining activities related to current products lines with testing, ECO creation, redlining, and change order implementation.

  • Proficiency with engineering software (like CAD) and testing equipment
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities

Education Requirements

  • BA in Mechanical Engineering preferred or similarly applicable Technology Studies
  • SolidWorks Training – toward certification is a plus
 

Experience Requirements

  • Six (6) years minimum experience in medical device capital equipment development support in areas of prototyping building, testing and reporting.
  • Proven use of measurement and test equipment such as Metrology, Thermocouple, Manometer, Tensile and Compression, Sound Meter, Fluid Flow Meters and Sensors.
  • Use of SolidWorks
  • Knowledgeable and practiced in activities related to IEC 60601, ISO 13485 standards
  • Standard Microsoft Office computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Oracle PLM is a plus. Helix ALM is a plus.
  • Experience operating 3D printers, slicer operations, maintaining/troubleshooting 3D printer issues.
