Job DetailsJob Location: CHS Rehabilitation & Wellness - Burlington, KS 66839Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: DayJob Category: Health CareJob Title:      Speech Language Pathologist Department: Rehabilitation Services Reports To:  Rehabilitation Director  SUMMARY: Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient/family counseling, and appropriate referrals to inpatients and outpatients exhibiting a speech, language, hearing, voice, cognition or swallowing disorder. Maintains systematic records in accordance with professional guidelines.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, collecting data, and documenting health insurance billings; as needed. Provides therapy for all types of speech, language, voice, cognition and swallowing disorders as well as educational and family counseling Performs diagnostic evaluations and provides results in written form for the medical record. Provides total case management and systematic reporting of progress, recommendations, and referrals in accordance with application guidelines. Actively participates in patient evaluation conferences with emphasis on discharge planning and referrals pertinent to continue rehabilitation and/or stabilization of clinical gains. Assesses and manages swallowing disorders in coordination with other departments. Keeps informed of changes and innovations in the field through professional contacts, literature, and workshops. Plans and conducts lectures and training programs on speech therapy and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups. Maintain and promote a positive attitude toward clients and their treatment programs. Comply with the personnel policies, department policies and CHS Code of Conduct. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions related to qualifications, physical demands and the work environment.  Education and/or Experience:        Required: Master’s Degree from an accredited school of speech therapy: in their clinical or fellowship (CF) or received their certificate of clinical competence (CCC) and eligible for the state Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Preferred: Previous experience.                       Language Skills:                                          Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and address questions from residents, family members, medical staff, other employees, and the general public.  Mathematical Skills:                                               Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.  Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  Certificates, Licenses, Registrations      Requirements:       Must be eligible for a current licensure with the State of Kansas Board as a SLP.      CPR certification required.  Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
