Summary of Role:

This Principal Equipment Engineer will work in the Reactive Ion Etch area at Fab 9, Essex Junction, VT. This engineer will own the daily performance of a diverse set of semiconductor etch equipment types and set the strategic plans for improvements and new equipment. This role is fully onsite at this 200mm waferfab foundry facility, on a Monday - Friday daytime schedule.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate daily with maintenance technicians and process engineers to meet production demands
  • Drive continuous improvement projects with respect to equipment availability, cost reduction, and yield improvement
  • Establish and manage the spare parts to meet repair budgets
  • Support cross functional problem solving, involving facilities, maintenance and process engineering
  • Work with procurement and suppliers to select strategic equipment and ensure continuity of spare part supply and quality
  • Manage installation and startup of new or retrofit equipment
  • Mentor and lead lower-level equipment engineering team members

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

Required Qualifications:

  • Education –bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical or related engineering field
  • BS + 4-5 years' relevant field experience OR MS + 2-4 years' relevant field experience OR PhD + 1-2 years' relevant field experience)
  • Understanding of and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems
  • Understanding of pumps, high vacuum systems and RF generators
  • Problem solving and communication of action plans
  • Travel - Up to 10%
  • Fluency in English Language – both written & verbal
  • Physical Capacity Demands – Ability to lift and carry parts up to 30 lbs., stand, or bend and crouch to inspect, or work on equipment in the clean room for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with supplier and contractor management
  • PLC, control systems and instrumentation
  • Project management and communication of plans
  • Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing, equipment and clean room facilities
  • Basic data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning & organizational skills

Expected Salary Range

$85,000.00 - $146,000.00
