Overview
The VT Assistive Technology Program (VATP) in the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) is seeking an Assistive Technology (AT) Access Specialist to join our team. The AT Specialist provides consultation, assessment, training, and technical assistance on AT for our clients. This involves the provision of direct, field-based services to support the consideration and implementation of AT tools and strategies. Â Work is both remote and in person, and some travel is required, mainly in the Burlington and Waterbury areas. Â

The position is highly collaborative and provides exposure to the wider scope of AT Services. You'll work closely with the public other staff, including but not limited to VATP staff and HIreAbility VT Vocational Counselors, to understand the challenges consumers are facing so that services can be tailored to their needs. Part of your role will involve staying current on AT trends working with experts in AT and developing your skills in this area. Work is supervised by the AT Program Director.

The Assistive Technology Access Specialist will:
- Provide technical assistance, training and demonstrations or tryouts of AT devices and programs to consumers.
- Promote increased consumer access and independence by recommending appropriate AT devices, strategies and software.
- Participate in trainings and conferences for professional development and increase expertise in AT.
- Evaluate usefulness and appropriateness of new hardware, software, and adaptive devices and makes recommendations to enhance inventory.

As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 22 will be $26.50 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $41.37 per hour.

This position, Assistive Tech Access Specialist - Temporary (Job Requisition #55200), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.
