This position is responsible for configuring, installing, fitting, and maintaining various fire sprinkler systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of those systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and fire sprinkler systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, and valves.

  • Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications.

  • Gathers equipment and materials for the job.

  • Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes.

  • Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps, cuts or bores holes prior to project.

  • Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards of old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with EPA, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.

  • Inspects fire sprinkler pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.

  • Coordinates with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.

  • Complies with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.

  • Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.

  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints.

  • Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification: 

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.

  • Fire protection industry experience is required.

  • NICET II in Water-Based Systems Layout or Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems is strongly preferred.

  • WA State pipe fitter's trainee/ journeyman level, BAT certification required.


Other Duties:

  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and stretching to install and repair fire sprinkler pipes and pipe fittings.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  • Must possess visual acuity required to inspect piping systems and read plans or blueprints.

Pay Rate:

  • $30.00 - $45.00 hourly DOE
