Job Overview:

Valley Medical and Wellness is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Toxicology Supervisor to oversee technical operations within our CLIA-certified toxicology laboratory. Reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager, this role provides hands-on leadership to laboratory staff, ensures strict regulatory compliance, and supports advanced LC/MS/MS method troubleshooting, and continuous assay development.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership abilities and a commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.


Primary Responsibility:


Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop toxicology laboratory staff
  • Conduct competency assessments and performance evaluations
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment

Laboratory Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, ISO, and internal quality standards
  • Maintain bench proficiency and support high-throughput testing as needed
  • Enforce laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols

Quality & Performance Management

  • Monitor and report productivity metrics, quality indicators, and turnaround times
  • Lead quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities, including audits and corrective actions
  • Ensure inspection readiness and accurate, complete documentation

Technical Expertise & Continuous Improvement

  • Troubleshoot LC/MS/MS assays, including peak integration, retention time adjustments, batch analysis and certification.
  • Support assay validation, method development, and process improvement initiatives
  • Develop, review, and maintain SOPs and validation documentation

Laboratory Resources & Systems

  • Manage inventory, reagent utilization, and instrument maintenance/calibration
  • Utilize LIMS for data management and workflow optimization

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field required
    • MLS/ML or ASCP certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a CLIA-certified toxicology laboratory
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Hands-on experience with LC/MS/MS in biological matrices, including troubleshooting
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and/or ISO standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

 

Additional Position Details: (hours, locations, commute)

  • Location: Burnsville, MN
    Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (hours may vary)
  • Full-time position with occasional after-hours or weekend availability
  • On-site role in Burnsville, MN (no routine travel required)
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, lifting, and repetitive fine motor tasks
  • Must have adequate visual acuity for laboratory work
