Senior Financial Accountant

Location: Butler, PA (Onsite)

What You Will Be Doing

  • Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Coordinate critical components of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Review accounting records and transactions for accuracy, proper documentation, classification, and compliance with company policies
  • Analyze and reconcile complex general ledger accounts, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies
  • Lead the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and management reporting packages
  • Prepare management reports and financial analyses comparing actual results to budgets, forecasts, and historical trends
  • Support the annual financial audit by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring supporting documentation is complete and accurate
  • Communicate financial results, key variances, and analytical insights to local and senior leadership
  • Prepare journal entries related to prepaid expenses and accruals
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and improve operational efficiency

What You Will Need

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or MBA preferred, but not required
  • Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, research variances, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, PivotTables, complex formulas, data validation, and financial modeling
  • Proficiency with accounting and reporting systems, including extracting, validating, reconciling, and analyzing data from enterprise financial systems
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
