Job DetailsLevel: EntryJob Location: Main Office - La Mesa, NM 88044Salary Range: $15.00 Position Scope/Summary The Irrigator is responsible for performing and maintaining all irrigation activities across the farm, including flood irrigation, sprinkler systems, and micro-irrigation. This role also supports general farm tasks such as harvesting, equipment operation, and other duties as needed to maintain efficient farm production. QualificationsEssential Job Duties and Responsibilities   Irrigation Duties Operate, maintain, and repair various irrigation systems including:   - Flood irrigation: setting gates, digging checks, maintaining ditches and borders.   - Sprinkler systems: moving pipes, setting and monitoring timers, checking heads for efficiency.   - Micro-irrigation (drip/tape): flushing lines, checking filters and emitters, monitoring for clogs or leaks. Monitor water schedules and adjust irrigation based on crop needs, weather, and soil conditions. Report and respond to irrigation system malfunctions or inefficiencies. Follow water conservation practices and comply with applicable water use regulations. Farm Operations Support Assist with harvest operations including picking, sorting, and packing as required. Perform general farm labor: weed control, pruning, fertilizing, and cleanup. Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery, including tractors, ATVs, pumps, and hand tools. Support crop planting and maintenance activities as assigned by the supervisor. Help with fencing, minor construction, and irrigation infrastructure setup.   Qualifications Previous experience in irrigation and/or general farm work preferred. Ability to work with various irrigation systems and basic mechanical knowledge. Willingness to work outdoors in variable weather conditions. Capable of lifting 50 lbs., bending, walking long distances, and working extended hours as needed. Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team. Valid driver’s license preferred, clean driving record a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful but not required. Work Schedule & Conditions Typical schedule: Monday to Saturday, early mornings required. Overtime and weekend work during peak irrigation or harvest times. Work is primarily outdoors with exposure to weather, water, mud, and farm chemicals.
