JOB TITLE: Yard Manager JOB LOCATION: Varies FLSA STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Sales Location Manager or Sales Operation Manager HOURS PER WEEK: 40
The Yard Manager owns the safety, organization, operation and overall presentation of the auction yard and facility. They lead equipment operations, coordinate facility maintenance, and ensure a professional experience for customers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience operating heavy equipment required (forklift, telehandler, skid steer)
- Forklift Trainer certification preferred or be willing to obtain certification
- Proficient with modern technology and AI-assisted tools (image recognition, asset identification, automated cataloging) to accurately identify, describe, and value assets.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Serve as the primary person responsible for organizing the yard and auction layout in an organized and aesthetically pleasing fashion
- Direct, follow up with, and hold team members accountable for the safe, accurate cataloging, labelling, and organization of auction items to ensure a consistent and professional presentation
- Collaborate with Office Manager to ensure all necessary auction services are available and operational
- Operate heavy equipment to assist customers safely loading and unloading of auction items
- Maintain organization of the facility and yard at their location
- Provide general facility and equipment maintenance including maintaining grounds
- Coordinate vendors for major repairs or maintenance of facility or equipment
- Assist in cataloguing when available, supporting accuracy and efficiency
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective sellers
- Ensure team members follow company safety procedures and operate in a safe and efficient manner and may act as a Safety Lead for their location
- May occasionally assist in offsite auctions
- Leverage AI-assisted tools and modern technology to support accurate asset identification, cataloging, and yard inventory management

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
- Primarily outdoors in all weather conditions
