Nonferrous Supervisor
Reports To: General Manager
Department: Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary
The Nonferrous Supervisor is responsible for the safe operation of process workflow of ferrous and nonferrous materials in the warehouse. This role works alongside the General manager, Front Office Supervisor, and Logistics Coordinator to ensure efficient and effective processes that result in quality control of loading and unloading of trailers, materials,packaging, and timely filling of customer equipment orders.
Essential Functions
- Ensures that he/she and his/her team follow all company safety rules.
- Ensuring the safe operation of the processing of ferrous and nonferrous materials.
- Directly supervises all grading, sorting, and packaging materials.
- Assists in maintaining correct inventory by ensuring material is graded and weighted correctly and inputted in the system accordingly.
- Responsible for all warehouse functions including cleanliness.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position supervises employees assigned to warehouse stations. This role also assists in coaching/training employees in safety topics and operations. process training.
Work Environment
This role operates in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Additionally, the employee is also exposed to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, high winds and dusty or muddy areas depending on assignment. The employee is at times exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follows, uses, implements and strives for deeper understanding of WSR 11 Rules of The Road.
- Ensure departmental compliance with all company and industry safety requirements.
- Takes part in and assists in operations and safety trainings as directed.
- Training and motivation of designated employees.
- Ensures all equipment within the assigned area has received a quality pre-operational check before the start of work and that all reports are submitted to supervisor as required.
- Ensure routine check of entire warehouse are completed. Repairs are completed timely.
- Ensures customer requests are filled in a timely manner.
- Verifies that all maintenance and repair activities are completed as required.
- Highly knowledgeable in ferrous and nonferrous material industry standards and grades.
- Manage Process Flow and quality control of material sorting for production.
- Create process flow for quality control of material packaging.
- Participation in physical inventory, cycle counts, annual audit and inventory transfer reporting.
- Operational effectiveness in assigned areas
- Conduct start up processes and end of day closing procedures.
- Work closely with all operations employees within the assigned area to ensure smooth/efficient operations and customer service..
- Responsible for all warehouse functions including cleanliness.
- Involvement in on-going and continuous operational improvement projects
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; Must be able to push, pull or carry up to thirty pounds. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to utilize hand tools and operator controls.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time (40 hours per week) position, Monday through Friday in the hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm. Overtime hours during the week as needed. Weekend work on an as needed basis.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma.
5+ years of warehouse supervisory experience
Preferred Education and Experience
Heavy Machine Operator Certification
OSHA safety certifications
