What You'll Do

 

As a Controls Technician at our Kerry Byesville site, you’ll play a key role in keeping automated production equipment and control systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably. You’ll troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery, support electrical and automation systems, and help minimize downtime in a fast-paced beverage manufacturing environment.

 

Important areas of operations you’ll work on (but are not limited to)

 

  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing, filling, packaging, and material handling equipment
  • Diagnose automation, electrical, and control system issues across motors, drives, sensors, relays, VFDs, servo motors, and control panels
  • Support PLC program changes, ladder logic troubleshooting, HMI systems, industrial networking, and communications
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve uptime, equipment reliability, MTTR, production efficiency, and OEE
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and ladder logic
  • Maintain and support beverage manufacturing equipment including conveyors, fillers, cappers, labellers, palletizers, robotics, CIP systems, compressors, pumps, and mixing/blending systems
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns, support startups, commissioning, and line changeovers, and help minimize production downtime
  • Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial electrical components, instrumentation, safety circuits, interlocks, and process controls
  • Partner with maintenance, engineering, and production teams on process improvements, equipment upgrades, and reliability initiatives
  • Document repairs, modifications, and maintenance activity in CMMS systems while following LOTO, safety, and quality standards

 

This is a hands-on controls role where your technical skills will directly support safe, reliable production and help drive continuous improvement across high-speed beverage manufacturing operations.

 

 

What You'll Need to Succeed

 

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, or PLC controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in beverage, food manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, or high-speed packaging environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and programming, including ladder logic, HMI systems, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, and Siemens platforms.
  • Proficient in electrical troubleshooting up to 480V, VFDs, servo motors, industrial networking, pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, and process controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and ladder logic.
  • CMMS experience and basic computer skills required; SAP knowledge is helpful.
  • Practiced in safe work habits, including LOTO procedures, with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

 

What We Offer

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00 per hour. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
