Summary:

The Associate Director of Nursing will report directly to the Campus Nursing Direction. They shall contribute to the development and enhancement of academic affairs and operational processes within the Nursing Program. They will actively participate in efforts to maximize students' academic success and ensure that the nursing program advances its mission and vision in accordance with the institution's statutes and values, training future professionals in line with market demand. They will perform administrative tasks aligned with their role and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise operations pertinent to the program of study in coordination with Nursing Director at Campus. This includes supervising the work of the faculty and administrative personnel directly related to nursing under their direction, and contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness needed to maintain accreditation.
  • Develop and implement the academic program work plan, including, but not limited to, updating, reviewing, or supervising the curricular portfolio for the Nursing program, in coordination with your supervisor, the Nursing Director at Campus. 
  • Direct or execute the tasks necessary to fulfill the institutional mission and philosophy, the Institution's Development Plan and its departmental development plan. In addition, coordinate with other personnel and departments of the Institution, those activities necessary or convenient for the achievement of institutional goals.
  • Guide and orient the Faculty with the purpose of facilitating and ensuring that each professor adequately complies with the duties and responsibilities established in the faculty manual.
  • Supervise the professional performance of the faculty, and ensure their attendance, punctuality and rectitude in the execution of their teaching, tutoring, mentoring, academic counseling, student services and dedication to the Institution.
  • Prepare and assign, for each academic period, the work programs that deliver courses for the Nursing program. The assignment of classes will be made considering the criteria of the academic preparation of the faculty, the 
  • results of the evaluations of their performance and seniority in the Institution. Maintain the necessary documentation on these programs and ensure that they are properly executed, both in quantity and quality, as well as in punctuality.
  • Evaluate the professional performance of the Faculty in charge of the courses of their program of study. Such evaluation process will be conducted in accordance with the norms and mechanisms established in the Faculty Evaluation Plan.
  • Program course offerings based on the enrollment needs of the Nursing program, in coordination with your supervisor. 
  • Strategically schedule the number of groups for labs and clinical practice according to the enrollment period of students. 
  • Create an itinerary for each in-person group of students, including but not limited to group divisions for clinical practice and labs, the labs required for each group, assignment of tutoring as needed, and assignment of study days. 
  • Recruit Faculty for necessary course assignments, in coordination with your supervisor. 
  • Evaluate Faculty at the end of the term and ensure compliance with the requirements of the Nursing Program and Institution, ensuring that each faculty member adheres to the teaching planning process corresponding to each course they teach. 
  • Submit a report to the supervisor at the Campus about the general status of the program and the general education component. 
  • Supervise and ensure that the Nursing program has all the cooperative agencies required for the program's clinical practices. 
  • Promote good relationships between faculty, students, and administration. 
  • Ensure that professors make student referrals to service areas as needed (referrals to retention, counseling, or other services).


Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing Science with a roles in Administration or other areas related to Nurse Sciences
  • Nurse Specialist 
  • Valid Nurse Specialist license issued by the Board of Nursing Examiners of PR. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in related areas.
  • Demonstrate ability to independently prioritize, coordinate and manage multiple responsibilities, projects and initiative while meeting deadline and supporting program objectives.
  • Analytical, judgmental and decision-making skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
