Position Summary The Solar Electrician / Wireman performs skilled electrical work related to the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial, industrial, and utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) systems and associated electrical equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring all electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable state and local regulations, project specifications, and company quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair AC and DC electrical systems associated with solar photovoltaic installations. Install conduit (EMT, PVC, RMC, IMC, and flexible conduit), conductors, junction boxes, disconnects, combiner boxes, transformers, switchgear, panelboards, inverters, and related equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, and construction documents. Perform electrical terminations, equipment startup, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Verify installations meet NEC requirements and applicable state and local electrical codes. Perform voltage testing, continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, and other electrical diagnostics. Coordinate electrical work with project managers, foremen, inspectors, utilities, and other trades. Identify and resolve electrical issues while maintaining project schedules. Ensure all work complies with OSHA safety standards and company safety policies. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Complete required documentation including daily reports, inspections, material usage, and punch list items. Operate company vehicles, power tools, testing equipment, lifts, ladders, and other construction equipment safely. Mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians while promoting safe work practices. Assist with service work, warranty calls, and maintenance as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications  Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Seasoned commercial or industrial electrical experience preferred. Solar PV experience preferred but not required. Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Ability to read electrical plans, specifications, and wiring diagrams. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening as permitted by law.   Pre-Employment Screening Final candidates selected for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment. Frequently stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, and work overhead. Work at heights using ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and rooftops. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protection when required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, inverters, battery storage systems, and electrical distribution equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced construction environment. Proficient in the safe use of electrical testing equipment and power tools. Working knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements.
