Overview

The Department of Labor is welcoming applicants for a Program Technician II position, which will assist the Claims Adjudications Unit in the interviewing and analytical work at an entry technical level for the Department. This position will involve the adjudication of eligibility issues for benefits under the Vermont Unemployment Compensation law. Duties include contacting claimants, employers, and others to gather information pertaining to claims. Work at this level differs from higher level adjudicators in the complexity of cases assigned, and the increased feedback, direction and quality control review of cases. Incumbents function within established regulations, policies, and precedent decisions. Work is performed under the direction of an Unemployment Compensation Program Administrator.


This is an in-office position. Remote and/or hybrid work schedules are not available at this time.

This position, UC Program Technician II - Adjudications - Limited Service (Job Requisition #55034), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed predominately in an office setting. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years or more of full-time college coursework OR an associate's degree or higher AND two (2) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in program administration (such as administering components of a licensing and certification program, or records management).

 

OR

 

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in program administration (such as administering components of a licensing and certification program, or records management).

 

OR

 

One (1) year or more of experience as a Program Technician I with the State of Vermont.
