HVAC Journeyman

About the Role
The HVAC Journeyman installs, services, repairs, and replaces residential and commercial HVAC systems while delivering exceptional customer service. This position diagnoses system issues, recommends solutions, and completes work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and applicable codes. The HVAC Journeyman also mentors apprentices and supports the continued growth of the HVAC department.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose HVAC system issues and recommend repair or replacement options.
- Install, service, maintain, and repair heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections.
- Explain findings, recommendations, and pricing to customers professionally.
- Complete work in compliance with manufacturer specifications, building codes, and company standards.
- Maintain accurate work orders, estimates, invoices, and service notes in ServiceTitan.
- Follow all company safety policies and EPA requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked company vehicle.
- Assist in training and mentoring apprentices and entry-level technicians.
- Collaborate with plumbing, electrical, and customer service teams to provide complete home service solutions.
Qualifications
- Education: High School or equivalent (preferred)
- Experience: Five or more years of HVAC installation and service experience preferred.
- Certifications & Licenses: Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
- Journeyman HVAC License (Required, where applicable), EPA Section 608 Certification (Required)
Skills Requirements
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, installation instructions, and safety procedures. Ability to perform measurements, load and airflow calculations, and basic job costing while accurately diagnosing mechanical and electrical HVAC issues to determine appropriate repair solutions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, coworkers, and management.
Performance Expectations (KPIs)
Consistently achieve performance goals related to first-time fix rate, revenue per service call, average ticket value, callback rate, customer satisfaction, maintenance agreement conversions, documentation accuracy, safety compliance, on-time arrival, and overall productivity and efficiency.
Physical & Work Environment
Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 75 lbs. while working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Regularly climb ladders, work in attics and crawlspaces, kneel, bend, stand for extended periods, and safely work around electrical equipment, refrigerants, and moving mechanical parts in accordance with all company safety procedures.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Overtime may be required during peak periods; closed Sundays.
