Position Summary:
The Welder is responsible for the layout and welding of metal components used in the manufacturing of the product being manufactured. This position requires proficiency in MIG welding, blueprint reading, and working with hand and power tools. The welder must follow detailed specifications to ensure strong, clean, and accurate welds while maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the fabrication process.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fabricate flatbed truck bodies and other products by reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
- Perform MIG welding on steel and/or aluminum parts in various positions (horizontal, vertical, overhead).
- Fit and tack components using jigs or by hand to ensure correct alignment before welding.
- Cut and prepare materials using oxy-fuel torches, grinders, plasma cutters, or saws.
- Use hand tools, clamps, and fixtures to hold parts in place during welding and assembly.
- Inspect welds for accuracy, penetration, and quality; rework as needed to meet standards.
- Operate forklifts, or other material handling equipment when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and always follow safety protocols.
- Complete job documentation (build sheets), including time tracking, inspection forms, and production logs.
- Collaborate with other team members including lead welder, install tech, and supervisors to meet production goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 2-5 years of advanced welding/fabrication experience
- Proficient in MIG welding techniques; ability to weld multiple gauges of steel and/or aluminum.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, weld notes, and measuring tools (tape measure, square, calipers).
- Proficient knowledge of fabrication equipment and safe operating procedures.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
- Capable of lifting and handling materials up to 50 lbs and working on feet for extended periods.
- Capable of reading complex blueprints and weld symbols
- Able to perform layout, and fabrication with limited supervision
- Consistent in producing quality welds and meeting productivity targets
- May assist in training lower-level welders

- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces
- Frequent lifting/carrying: up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting over 100 lbs
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping and dexterity
- Constant visual, auditory, and verbal communication required
Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust, mechanical vibration, fumes, and outdoor conditions
- Occasional work in extreme heat/cold or wet/humid environments
- Occasional shift work and extended days may be required
- Occasional hazards due to mechanical equipment or moving objects
Equipment Operated:
- Company vehicles, customer vehicles, and forklifts
- Bandsaw, compressors, air tools, hand tools, welders, plasma cutter, 4 post lift.
- Company computers for clocking in and out, or requesting time off
- Required to use protective gear (PPE) at all times
