We are looking to hire a

Metals Trader

Remote Role - Based in the West Coast of US | Ref: MET - 0626

VIPA is a European multinational company, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, with a leading position in the global recycling and recovered material trading sectors. As our business in the US is growing, we want to expand our team and wish to employ a specialized commercial professional for our Metals Division. The position can be based anywhere in the US West Coast.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Expand the company's market presence and analyze the market trends

  • Formulate strategies that are in line with the company's goals and market share growth

  • Develop new accounts in respective region and identify new growth opportunities

  • Manage existing relationships with supplier and client by doing regular visits to the client sites, as well as through emails and telephone calls

  • Closely cooperate with procurement, logistics/customer service, and sales to ensure stable product supply and overall operational efficiency

  • Perform inspection of material to ensure quality

  • Work with supplier to negotiate and settle quality claims within given parameters

  • Understand supplier needs, solve problems, and improve supplier satisfaction & loyalty

  • Monitor prices and market trends in order to talk intelligently to suppliers about the market and procure material



Qualifications & Competencies

  • Experience in a similar commercial or logistics role in the metals sector (at least 3-5 years)

  • Strong commercial acumen / negotiation skills

  • Availability for heavy business travel on a monthly basis

  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and communication skills

  • Adaptive to change, and ability to work under pressure

  • Strong decision-making ability
