Job Title: Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic 

Reports to: Director of Maintenance

Classification: Non-Exempt

Time Commitment: Full-time

Position Summary

The Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic supports aircraft maintenance operations at St. Mary’s Regional Airport (2W6) in California, MD. The mechanic is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on assigned aircraft in accordance with FAA standards, company procedures, and applicable maintenance data. This position works as part of the maintenance team to support safe, reliable aircraft operations and is responsible for ensuring maintenance records and company reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.

Essential Functions 

  • Completes aircraft and engine maintenance as required or needed.
  • Follows established and normal aviation safety procedures and processes.
  • Maintains complete and accurate maintenance records.
  • Conducts scheduled inspections and completes follow-up as required.
  • Inspects engines, landing gear, instruments, pressurized sections, brakes, valves, pumps, air-conditioning systems and other aircraft related systems.
  • Complete necessary maintenance and repairs (replacements) on the aircraft, its subsystems, and components.
  • Repairs sheet metal or composite surfaces and assemblies.
  • Checks for and corrects corrosion, distortion, and cracks in the fuselage, wings, and tail and other subassemblies IAW with applicable instructions and directives.
  • Troubleshoots as needed to all aircraft systems.
  • Keeps a clean and orderly work area.
  • Tool box must be inventoried and have a list of the inventory.
  • Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, technical publications, and other applicable maintenance data.
  • Working knowledge of applicable FAA standards.
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete required reports on a timely basis.
  • Ability to work in a collegial manner with Company employees, vendors, and customers. 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Skills Preferred

  • Avionics experience.
  • King Air 200 & 300 Series maintenance experience highly preferred.
  • Five or more years of aircraft maintenance experience preferred.
  • Previous turbine aircraft maintenance experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship .
  • High school diploma or equivalent .
  • Ability to learn aircraft-specific systems, procedures, and maintenance requirements.
  • FAA-issued Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Certifications for specific aircraft may also be required.
  • Possess and maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
  • Ability to secure & maintain a secret level security clearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug test.

Travel 

  • Travel and rotational deployment throughout the United States and locations outside of the United States, including austere locations, is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a variety of physical conditions, including austere conditions;
  • Ability to wear respirators or other required safety equipment;
  • Ability to work in confined spaces;
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs.
