Position Summary
The Programming Manager is the face of programming on property at Villa Roma Resort & Conference Center. Working under the approval and oversight of the Programming/Entertainment Director, the Manager is responsible for building and delivering the resort’s daily slate of activities and programming and for supervising the programming staff who carry it out. The role is hands-on: the Manager works side by side with the team to host an assortment of activities each day while managing the people, schedule, materials, and standards that keep the department running.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Manager sets the lineup of activities and programming on property, providing a daily rotating schedule of seasonal programming including, but not limited to, crafts, intellectual games, gatherings, and historically popular activities such as Bingo and Horse Racing, designed for a wide range of ages and group sizes. The monthly activities schedule is completed during the first week of the preceding month and is subject to the approval of the Programming/Entertainment Director.
The Manager schedules programming staff to meet activity and recreation needs while maintaining the department’s scheduling budget, and plans and submits orders for the materials required to run activities.
The Manager supervises the programming staff. This includes approving timecards, time-off, and sick-time requests; tracking attendance; assisting in conducting performance reviews; and carrying out coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action in coordination with Human Resources. The Manager’s day-to-day direction of the team and input on hiring, advancement, and corrective action are a primary part of the role.
The Manager plans and implements new games and activities in response to seasonal changes and guest interest and requests, and assists daily with hosting and running all programming alongside staff.
The Manager maintains clear oversight of the full execution of all activities — setup, execution, and breakdown — to ensure that staff consistently meet property and department standards, and performs other duties as assigned in support of the resort’s programming objectives.
