Semtech’s Protection Business Unit is a group of passionate and talented engineers tasked to characterize and deliver established industry-leading protection integrated circuits (IC) for high performance analog, mixed-signal semiconductor and advanced algorithms for infrastructure, high-end consumer, and industrial end market application hardware, dedicated to providing customers with high quality proprietary solution and breakthrough technology.

Job Summary:   

The Product Engineer is responsible for new products characterization, development and manufacturing support of products and component ideas and concepts that will meet our manufacturing, safety, quality, compliance, cost, and marketing objectives. Among other duties, he/she must monitor assigned projects through all phases of development.

Responsibilities:

• Perform sampling, product testing and documentation including the writing of product performance specifications, test plans for characterizations and product performance reports.

• Prepare product characterization plans and coordinate with technicians to complete performance tests. 

• Collaborating with different function groups to provide testing support for different projects.

• Performing product correlation, repeatability and limits setting in collaboration with Test Engineering.

• Managing vendors to ensure expected outcomes in terms of schedule and resolutions.

• Responsible for new product introduction documentation and assist in review of product documentation for release to production.

• Responsible for customer requests by providing information to customers related to product performance, make and assembly.

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.S./M.S. Electrical Engineering.

• Good understanding of working theory of semiconductor devices.

• Good understanding of electrical circuits and Analog IC.

• Excellent analytical and trouble shooting skills with the ability to proactively solve issues.

• Quick learner of new technical skills including new instruments and software.

• Effective verbal and written communication interfaces at all levels within the organization.

• Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule.

• Experience in working with international and cross-functional teams.  Involves some cross-function meetings with different time zones.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office™ products - Excel, Word, Visio, Power Point, Project.

Desired Qualifications

• Understanding of testing methodologies incorporated with high volume production techniques and requirements a plus.

• Strong background in statistical data analysis using statistical tools including Excel or other tools

• Familiar with different lab instruments and testers.

• 1-2 years’ experience in Semiconductor field with experience in analog and digital development.
